CITY DIRECTIVE NO. 25-05 REINSTATEMENT AND RESTORATION OF FUNDING FOR THE SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT


  • WHEREAS, the City of Los Santos is committed to ensuring the well-being and support of its residents, particularly the most vulnerable members of society;

    WHEREAS, the Social Services Department plays a critical role in providing essential programs, including housing assistance, food security, healthcare access, employment support, and emergency aid;

    WHEREAS, previous budgetary constraints led to reductions in funding and resources for the Social Services Department, impacting its ability to effectively serve the community;

    NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in the Office of the City Manager, the following measures are hereby enacted:

    SECTION I – REINSTATEMENT OF THE SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT
      • The Social Services Department of Los Santos is hereby fully reinstated and will resume all previously suspended operations.
      • The department will undergo a comprehensive review to assess critical needs and areas requiring immediate attention.
      • A hiring initiative will be launched to ensure adequate staffing for social workers, case managers, and community outreach personnel.
      SECTION II – RESTORATION OF FUNDING
      • Effective immediately, funding for the Social Services Department is fully restored under the City Budget for the fiscal year.
      • The City Treasury is directed to allocate the necessary funds to support the department’s programs, infrastructure, and personnel.
      • Additional grant opportunities and state/federal aid will be pursued to further strengthen social welfare initiatives.
      SECTION III – PROGRAM EXPANSION & COMMUNITY OUTREACH
      • Expansion of homelessness assistance programs to provide shelter, rehabilitation, and employment resources.
      • Increased funding for mental health services and crisis intervention initiatives.
      • Strengthened community outreach and public awareness campaigns to connect residents with available social services.
      SECTION IV – IMPLEMENTATION & OVERSIGHT

      The City Manager’s Office will oversee the reinstatement and ensure the proper allocation of funds.

      The Department of Finance and City Projects Coordinator will provide quarterly reports on the effectiveness and impact of the restored programs.

      All city agencies and departments are directed to support the Social Services Department in its renewed mission to serve the people of Los Santos.
      This directive shall take effect immediately upon signing and will remain in force until further notice.
