From Idlewood to City Hall
,
Born and raised on Arbor Vitae Street to a working-class family, I have seen what makes this city function: the everyday people who come from every corner of this beautiful city. I've also witnessed their struggles; my mother and father spent most of their lives just barely above the poverty line, and I've dedicated my life to working with low-income communities in Idlewood and East Los. I am running for Mayor to fight for what Los Santos should be, a land of opportunities for all it's people.

My platform
Low Income Housing

Los Santos is in the midst of a housing crisis; everyday working-class citizens struggle to afford to pay rent, much less own a house of their own. The soaring cost of living has forced many families to make difficult decisions, often sacrificing their quality of life and stability to keep a roof over their heads. Meanwhile, a small number of real estate companies own an immense amount of property, creating a monopoly that exacerbates the situation for those seeking affordable housing. These corporations prioritize profit over people, leaving many residents feeling hopeless and marginalized. This has to end; every citizen of Los Santos deserves a place they can call home, where they can build their lives, nurture their families, and contribute to the vibrant community that makes this city unique.

As Mayor, I will work tirelessly to create hundreds of new low-income housing units, ensuring that our city can provide affordable, dignified, and clean housing to those who need it most. This initiative will not only address the urgent housing crisis but also foster a sense of community among residents. By collaborating with local developers, community organizations, and non-profit, we can implement sustainable building practices that promote environmentally-friendly living. Furthermore, we will ensure that these housing units are equipped with essential amenities, creating a supportive environment where families can thrive. It is my commitment to the people of this city that everyone deserves a safe and welcoming place to call home, and together, we will make this vision a reality.

Improved Workers Rights & Strengthened Labor Unions

Los Santos runs because of working people and our cities policies should reflect that. Currently, San Andreas and Los Santos law, offer few protections for workers compared to other states. As a city that prides itself on its diverse economic landscape, from service industries, to the ports to tech startups, Los Santos must prioritize worker rights in its policy-making. By doing so, not only would it foster a more equitable work environment, but it would also stimulate economic growth by creating a more satisfied and productive workforce. A city that values its workers and their contributions will ultimately thrive, leading to a prosperous community that can be enjoyed by all.

Currently, the legal framework in San Andreas is lacking when compared to many other states that have implemented more comprehensive protections for their labor force. This discrepancy puts workers at a disadvantage, often leaving them vulnerable to exploitation with limited recourse. Important issues such as fair wages, safe working conditions, and benefits are still a work in progress and require robust legislative attention.

Notably, the Labor Relations Act contains defacto right to work policies, which fundamentally limit the capabilities of labor unions, thereby undermining their ability to negotiate fair wages and working conditions. Creating an environment where workers’ rights and voices are diminished. As a consequence, employees may find themselves struggling to advocate for their needs amidst a landscape that prioritizes corporate interests over labor welfare.

Increased Government Contracting & Business Opportunties with the Community

There was once a time where government contracts were a viable method for businesses, small and large, to work collaboratively with the city in order to achieve both of our goals. These contracts provided unique opportunities for local entrepreneurs to secure funding and support from public resources, which in turn fostered innovation and economic growth within the community.

However, over the past few years, these opportunities have almost entirely disappeared, leading to a notable decline in the availability of beneficial contracts for businesses and the city.

Under my administration, working and collaborating with the community through government contracts to build our city together will be a primary goal, as I believe that inclusive participation is essential for effective governance. By fostering a strong relationship with local businesses, non-profit organizations, and residents, we can identify key areas that require development and allocate resources more efficiently.

Revamped Government

Over the years, the amount of services offered by the government has steadily declined, administration after administration. This decline has not only affected the various sectors that rely on government support but also eroded trust in public institutions and cost hundreds of jobs.

The decline, of course, is not the fault of the workers in the various departments which have seen drastic cuts, but due to poor leadership within the government. The people of Los Santos need services like transportation, public health, city services, housing authority, child services, and many others that all modern cities provide. These services ensure the functioning of day-to-day life within the city.

As Mayor, I would work diligently alongside those in the various departments to not only rebuild these essential services but also to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency. My focus would be on implementing innovative strategies, improving recruitment procedures, and fostering collaboration among department heads to ensure that we operate at a level that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of the citizens of this city.

Port Revitalization

The Port of Los Santos is an incredible asset to our community, serving as a bustling hub of activity that fuels the local economy. From the port workers of the International Bureau of Longshoreman, who tirelessly ensure that operations run smoothly, to the ships and trucks that come through every day carrying goods in and out of the city, the port is a lifeline connecting us to the global market. It is an important piece of the economic life of the city, facilitating trade, creating jobs, and supporting local businesses that rely on timely deliveries of essential products.

However, over the years, business in and out of the port has declined significantly. This decline can be attributed to several factors, including increased competition from other ports that have modernized their facilities and improved their logistics. The repercussions of this decline have been felt throughout the local economy, impacting jobs and the livelihood of those who depended on port activities.

Through modernization and new opportunities created by working hand in hand with those who are most knowledgeable in the field, we will be able to not only revitalize the port but also bring back business levels to what they were in the mid-2010s. This collaborative approach will enable us to tap into new markets, attract increased shipping traffic, and ultimately, foster a dynamic economic environment that benefits the entire region.
